A knitwear tech pack helps a supplier understand the garment you intend to make. It connects measurements, construction, materials and finishing decisions in one working document.
Start with the product identity
Give the style a name or code, identify the intended market and season, and state the development stage. Add a front and back technical sketch. Detail views help communicate necklines, cuffs, hems, pockets, plackets, seams and decoration placement.
Include the decisions that affect the sample
- Fibre composition, yarn preference, fabric or knit structure, and target handfeel
- Gauge or fabric weight target where known
- Point of measure diagram, graded size chart and tolerances
- Construction details, stitch references and finishing
- Color references and approval method
- Labels, trims, packaging and care instructions
Separate confirmed details from open questions
Mark what is fixed, what can be proposed and what needs discussion. Include quantity range, target cost, target delivery and destination market to help scope a realistic development plan.
Use the sample review to improve the document
Record measured sample results, fit notes, yarn and color approvals, and revision requests. A concise, version-controlled update reduces the chance that approved changes are missed.
