A sample review is most useful when it compares the garment with an agreed brief. Begin with the approved reference, point-of-measure chart and material notes.
Start with the product context
Lay the sample flat and measure the agreed points using the same method as the supplier. Record actual results, not just “too long” or “too loose.”
Review the details systematically
Try on the intended fit model or use the agreed form. Check balance, ease, neckline, shoulder position, sleeve shape and hem behavior. Photograph front, back and detail areas consistently.
Record an agreed standard
Separate required corrections from preferences. Assign a version number, date and owner to the comments. Confirm which changes affect cost, timing or construction before the next sample.
General buyer education. Requirements and test methods vary by product and market; confirm specifics with qualified suppliers and compliance specialists.
